Coming to the NLP course was something that I did not planned for. In the sense, I came with an open mind and not knowing what to expect. But now going through it, I will like to thank my friend for introducing me to the course.
The beginning of the course has already given me a goal to work on. What do I want? What exactly do I want in my life? Although I have always wanted to be someone successful but I have never really known what have I done or how do I know if I am moving towards my goal. NLP has given me some guidelines so I can be more aware and move towards my goal.
But moving towards being successful is not just about “me”. I will need to work with others to achieve that. And that requires being more aware of the person that I am interacting with. Building up rapport is one of the most important things that I have learned in NLP. Without building rapport, without the help of others, how do I achieve it?
I remember my own affirmations. I am a guiding light. I am a give of hope and I will succeed. Recalling my own affirmations reminds me of the higher purpose of what and who I want to be. It is really not for just being me and for myself. It is really working for the sake of others that will complete me.
However, there are indeed many memories and some bad experiences that hinder my own affirmation of reaching out to others. Without realising, my own sub-conscious mind repressing so much emotions! It was a moment of self-awareness and using the NLP tools to resolve them. Whether it is stepping back in time or taking the position of the other parties during the exercises. These exercises have indeed given me a new perspective of looking at things.
The map is certainly not the territory!
Going through NLP also allows me to be aware of the different representation systems of how I behave and how others behave. And with that, I started improving my rapport skills to influence a person.
If I am to be a guiding light, that definitely needs to start from building rapport!
The tools learned from NLP, has allowed met to identify the client’s situation and carefully match the tool that I can use to help others. A giver of hope will be someone who is skilful and use different tools for different people. I look forward to practising it and truly benefiting other in various ways. That reminds me of the second presupposition and i.e. “The Law of Requisite Variety.” This is definitely not intentional!
Although the course is coming to an end, I feel it is a new beginning! With new learning’s and insight, and applying what is being taught, whether it is communicating with others, getting into the best state when presenting, helping someone to resolve their issues, NLP has definitely provided me with the tools handle different situations. And I look forward to living my every day with confidence and truly becoming a guiding light!
