NLP reframing is probably one of the many NLP techniques that are very well-received in our NLP certification programs.
Like you, some of our NLP practitioners too have difficulty in handing failures in their lives.
As a matter of fact, many of us dread to “fail” in life. We tend to make failure our enemy, eventually allowing it to get the better of us. However failure is often the mother of all success. In NLP, there’s a simple yet powerful t that can enable you to turn any failure into success: NLP reframing
Why Learn the NLP Reframing Technique:
- Do you wish to learn the greatest secret that every great achiever in life or successful person knows about turning any setbacks or challenges into opportunities or personal power?
- Have you ever found yourself immersed in a problem and found yourself powerless to do anything about the situation?
- Are you prepared to turn any negative experiences or encounters in your life to a learning opportunity?
If your answer to the following questions is a resounding “Yes”, then NLP reframing technique is something which will excite and empower you.
What is NLP Reframing:
But first, what is reframing? In the NLP context, we define a frame as a context or focus for your thoughts and actions.
Just as a picture frame puts borders or boundaries on what you can see in a picture, there are frames of reference that you choose as a result of your beliefs about yourself and others, your perceived meaning of a situation, your perceived ability to handle a “failure” or “challenge” at hand etc.
Yet, as the great motivation speaker Anthony Robbins always mentions, “Nothing in life has any meaning except the meaning you give it.” Using this powerful technique known as NLP Reframing, you can simply change your “experience” of any failure (or a negative situation) in a flash of lightning, by changing the meaning you link to it.
Listed below are some helpful questions that you may want to use in your life for reframing any negative situation or failure into a positive experience:
- What can I learn from this? First and foremost, we have to realize that failure is often the mother of all success. Whenever you make a mistake and learn from it, you are becoming a wiser man. As John Powell once put it, “The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing”. Life is a journey of constant learning and growth.
- What can I do to make things better? Instead of shirking responsibility and saying “Why me”, ask what you are willing to do to make things better and salvage the situation. According to the Law of Requisite variety, the more flexible you are with your approach, the higher your chances of success. When faced with failure or setbacks, it may be time for you to review what isn’t working and to make the necessary changes to move you towards success. The greatest insanity is to do the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
- How can I rise from this failure and emerge triumphant? Instead of beating yourself up for what you have already done, believe that you can rise again. When the Titanic sunk, many people vowed never to set sail on cruise ships. Yet, bigger, better and safer ships have been built since, and people are cruising their way to pleasure. Is there any way that you can possibly turn failure into success? Remember that a stream will always succeed in forging its own path to the ocean, overcoming all obstacles in its path. Similarly, with vision and persistence, we too can achieve our desired success in life.
As simple as this NLP Reframing may look, it is actually a very powerful technique. When applied consistently in your life, you can in no time “turn” your failures into your successes.
